MEGAMAN X8 WEAKNESSES SERIES
Both the Classic and X series do have premises that all seem to end with Sigma. Especially the Classic series!” Let me stop you for a sec. Now I know a lot of people are going to say “UGH! It’s the same Sigma’s behind it and manipulating people behind the scenes plot all over again! It’s not new! It’s just copying the past games. Unfortunately, just when you’re getting to know her- I mean HIM (it’s confusing depending on what language of the game you’re playing), Vile comes in and swoops Lumine away, forcing X and the gang to try and get em back and find out why these New Generation Reploids are suddenly going maverick. Their leader, Lumine, is manager of the JAKOB Project, which sought to expand their reach into space, but these lunatics clearly don’t remember what happened last time humanity tried that (Eurasia Much.?). But here, we learn that these newbies are very much the perfected version of it. That’s one detail X7 didn’t get to introduce outside a mention of Axl’s shapeshifting ability.

Axl himself could do it too, but since he was a prototype, he can’t go Maverick at will and doesn’t possess the full capability of replicating a larger body like Sigma’s. Mega Man X8 follows the story of the New Generation Reploids as they slowly but surely plot to, you guessed it, TAKE OVER THE WORLD! MWAHAHAHA! They see older models like X, and in a way Zero and Axl (if you're familiar with the lore of Mega Man Classic and X) as inferior and can easily morph their bodies into various forms, including past Mavericks (which should definitely raise plenty of red flags already).
Note: If you disagree with any of the points made in this review, that's perfectly fine. For now, let’s get into the premise of the eighth game and see what we can do. But there’s a lot more going on that I’m happy to talk about in this review that, thankfully, fans have taken note of. People can get tired of the whole Sigma and Wily schtick. Thankfully, with the full X series released on consoles in the new collection, it sold incredibly well! Almost more than the recent Mega Man 11 from last October, 2018! So, there's hope yet in Capcom wanting to make a new X game.
MEGAMAN X8 WEAKNESSES PS2
X7 and 8 didn't even appear in the original GameCube and PS2 collection for goodness sake (although, if I recall, the collection might have predated X8 by about a year)! Instead, we get an exclusive Japanese game where Mega Man Classic races everyone. It was received poorly and so X8 mostly sold only in foreign countries and didn't do well in America. The reason we haven't got a sequel other than an RPG yet can be summed up with one title: X7. But all of that aside, X8 is currently the last definitive game in the X series (unless Capcom decide to give us X9 like everyone's been begging for over a decade). It's enough to deserve its own full length journal all in one go really. X6 IS! And I'll surely get to it one day if I decide to review some of my favorites in the series IF I think I really want to.
But since I’m also doing a Mega Man X parody and I've been playing the X Legacy Collection to death and recently completed the absolute hellish game in the whole series, X6, I think I’m ready to tackle a review for one of the games. This is pretty odd of me to post now since I’ve been focused solely on Toon Wars lately, and I’ve decided to take a break from it to do Dragon Ball Rising.
